How many credit card payments can be missed?

Hello, how many payments can be missed or how many months before a credit card company will turn you in to a collection agency?

Each company may be different but in general how many can be missed?

Thanks to all.|||I think you get reported if you are late at all. But I am sure if you are more than 30 days late or miss a payment you will get a hit to your credit.|||Usually after 90 days late, they start to contact collection agencies. Before that happens, you need to talk to them. Even paying $5 a month will keep you out of collections, even though their minimum payment says $50. It's an attempt to pay a debt, so they have to take it. Before you are sent to an agency, however, they must send you notice in writing, due to the Fair Credit Reporting Act. If they don't send you written notice, you can use that against the collection agency when they start contacting you.|||Can't answer the question as it depends on the company.

Please note that every missed credit card payment remains on your credit report for years. Utility payments being late will not effect your credit report, if you need to juggle, don't miss a minimum payment on a credit card.|||In most cases you will be turned over to their internal collections at 31 days late. Then depending on the company you could be turned over to an outside collection agency as early as 61 days. However, most will wait until you are at 91 days before they do.

Companies sometimes, but not always, will send you a letter giving you the date they will turn it over. This is the one last chance they are giving you to take care of it before it goes to the OCA. Once it does you will need to deal with the Collection Agency, because the original creditor has removed themselves legally(Charged-Off) the account. In other words try to take care of it BEFORE it goes to the outside collection agency.

But once they do turn it over, you can expect a call from the Collection Agency the very next day.
